Huge Improvement In Stopping Power and Braking Performance in One Kit

Even though the stock brakes on the 2013 to 2018 Ford Explorer Sport models with Heavy-Duty Brakes aren't terrible by any means, Explorers that get driven to the outer edges of their performance envelopes may need a little something extra to get them the sheer stopping power that they need. Power Stop's Complete Z23 Brake Pad and Rotor kit takes your Explorer's stopping ability to the next level and gives your quick AWD SUV improved stopping power, more initial bite, and much less fade than your stock blank rotors and semi-metallic brake pads so that your modded-up Explorer can stop on a dime without breaking a sweat. This kit comes with a full set of four drilled and slotted brake rotors and new carbon-ceramic brake pads for each corner of your Explorer so that you replace all the wearable parts of your braking system with far more effective and powerful hardware.

Four Drilled and Slotted Brake Rotors with Zinc Plated Finish

The core of this kit is its awesome Power Stop Brake Rotors that greatly improve the stopping ability and braking performance of your Explorer over its stock brake rotors. Each of the rotors included in this kit drop right into place of stock and are manufactured and balanced to exacting specifications to avoid fitment problems and drivability issues. Each rotor is internally vaned and has cross-drilled holes that drop into the internal vanes which allows for much more effective heat dissipation over stock and can drop temperatures by as much as 180 Fahrenheit. The surface of each rotor also has rounded slots which help clear away brake dust and other debris so that your pads have a clear contact area for more consistent bite and performance. Each rotor comes standard with a bright silver zinc plated finish that gives them a great look and helps them resist corrosion.

Powerful Z23 Brake Pads with Carbon-Ceramic Friction Compound

The brake pads included in this kit are perfectly designed to drop right into your Explorer's factory brake calipers and work with Power Stop's rotors for flawless braking performance. This full set of Power Stop Z23 brake pads feature a unique carbon-ceramic friction compound that generates far more bite and stopping power than your Explorer's stock pads without increasing noise, harshness, or brake dust. The surface of each pad is thermal-scorched before leaving Power Stop to ensure a fast break-in period. The pads each come standard with powder-coated backing plates to resist corrosion, as well as rubberized shims to reduce noise during operation. The Z23 pads come with all the hardware you need for installation, making them easy, drop-in replacements for your stock brake pads.

Power Stop Extreme Bedding Note:

The break in procedure is critical to brake performance. The reason for a proper break in is to establish an even layer of friction material deposited on the rotors from the brake pads. It is very important that this initial layer of friction material is evenly distributed. Break in the pads as follows: 5 moderate to aggressive stops from 40 mph down to 10 mph in rapid succession without letting the brakes cool and do not come to a complete stop. Then do 5 moderate stops from 35 mph to 5 mph in rapid succession without letting the brakes cool. You should expect to smell some resin as the brakes get hot. After this is complete, drive around for as long as possible without excessively heating the brakes and without coming to a complete stop (Try for about 5 minutes at moderate speed). This is the cooling stage. It allows the heated resin in the brake pads to cool and cure. After the brakes have cooled to standard operating temperature, you may use the brakes normally.
