A turbocharger increases an engine's power output by forcing more air into the combustion chambers. The turbo actuator is responsible for controlling the turbocharger's turbine and compressor sides, adjusting the boost pressure according to the engine's load and speed.

Turbo actuators operate using either pneumatic or electronic systems. Pneumatic actuators utilize a diaphragm and a spring mechanism to control the position of the wastegate valve, which diverts exhaust gases away from the turbine, limiting boost pressure. Electronic actuators, on the other hand, employ a small motor or solenoid that adjusts the position of the wastegate valve based on signals received from the engine control unit (ECU).
