Engine Components  - Rotating Assembly & Accessories

Converting combustion energy into rotational motion is what makes the rotating assembly a fundamental part of any internal combustion engine. The rotating assembly consisting of a crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistons. It's engineered to ensure efficient power delivery for smooth engine operation. Properly balancing the assembly reduces vibrations, minimizes friction, and improves engine durability.

More About Rotating Assembly & Accessories

Together, the parts of the rotating assembly operate continuously. The pistons generate force through combustion, the connecting rods transfer this force, and the crankshaft converts it into rotational energy. This process is essential for an engine to function correctly.

Pistons: Located inside the engine's cylinders, pistons move up and down due to the combustion process. When the air and fuel mixture ignites in the combustion chamber, the force created pushes the piston crown, and this is what forces the pistons downward.

Connecting Rods: Connecting each piston to the crankshaft is a connecting rod. As the pistons move down, the rods transfer their up-and-down motion to the crankshaft. They also pivot to allow the parts to move together smoothly.

Crankshaft: The crankshaft is the central shaft of the rotating assembly. It takes the motion from the connecting rods and turns it into rotational energy. The crankshaft then delivers this rotational energy to the transmission, which ultimately powers the vehicle's wheels.
