Description
Steering Gear Fits most 1988–1996 Chevy or GMC 1500 2X4 or 4X4 and 2500 2X4 Pickups. If you have a 1988 – 1991 you need to determine which side of the frame your steering gear mounts on. If it mounts on the inside of the frame then you have this steering gear. If it mounts on the outside of the frame then you need to order our part number 2856. This gear is a 15:1 ratio and is stock. If you would like an 18:1, please order this gear – 2864S MH4T. If you would like the quick ratio (12.7:1 Ratio), please order this gear – 2864SQW MH.This gearbox allows you to retain the factory steering shaft, as well as the stock pitman arm. This is a major advantage especially those with lifted trucks with dropped pitman arms, you will not have to change your pitman arm.

If you are looking for the 2500 4X4 or the 3500 Pickups, then you need a 2864L MH. The difference between these two is whether you have a small or large housing. To see which one you have, there are casting numbers on the housing. If you have an 83, then you have a small housing, the 2864S MH. If you have an 84, then you have a large housing, the 2864L MH.
