More About Engine Starters
When the ignition key or button is activated, the starter motor engages with the engine's flywheel or flexplate, which is connected to the crankshaft. By applying a powerful rotational force, the starter motor overcomes the initial resistance and inertia of the engine, enabling it to start running on its own.
