RedHead Steering Gear (36 Spline) | 2764BS | 1999-2004 Ford F250-F550 / Vans

Steering Gear Fits 1999-2004 Ford F-250 to F-550 Pickup Trucks, 2000-2005 Excursion, or 1999-2004 Vans that have the 36 spline sector/output shaft. All 2001-2004 Ford Super Duty’s and 2001-2005 Excursion’s came with the 36 spline sector from the factory. Some 1999 and 2000 model year applications will feature a 32 spline sector, where late models will have a 36 spline sector. Please confirm your spline count before ordering. This gearbox allows you to retain the factory steering shaft, as well as the stock pitman arm. This is a major advantage especially those with lifted trucks with dropped pitman arms, you will not have to change your pitman arm.

Special Notes: Be sure to do a spline peak count of your output or sector shaft, which indirectly connects to the tires, you should have a total of 36 splines. (Please view the third picture on the left, you will see you have 9 spline peaks between each master spline, and there is 4 master splines, so 9 times 4 = 36 splines). If you have a 32 spline sector shaft, please use 2764.

Note:
There is a mid-model year split in 2000, please determine whether you have the early or later model steering box prior to ordering by counting the splines on the shaft. The early models have 32 splines, while the late have a 36 spline. Thus, the Red-Head #2764 will feature 32 splines, where the #2764BS will have 36.

• Please drain core of fluid and replace port plugs
• Use plastic bag that we sent your new gearbox in (if it’s still intact) or whatever is needed to keep box from leaking
• Re-use packing materials to ensure the box is returned to us without hassle from the courier
• Also, if possible, tape or re-tape the outside of the box to help strengthen it

If these steps aren’t properly performed, the gearbox may end up in hazmat and/or be returned to sender by courier.
