Description
New decomposition chamber for Paccar engines. This carries a 2 year warranty.
How it works:
- Exhaust Gas Inlet: The exhaust gases from the diesel engine are directed into the decomposition reactor.
- Ammonia Injection: In front of the decomposition reactor, a reducing agent, usually ammonia (NH3), is injected into the exhaust stream. In many cases, a urea-based solution, commonly known as Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), is used as the source of ammonia.
- Decomposition of Urea: Inside the decomposition reactor, the ammonia-containing DEF is heated. This heat causes the urea (NH2)2CO in DEF to break down into ammonia (NH3) and carbon dioxide (CO2).
- NOx Reduction: The ammonia generated in the decomposition reactor then reacts with nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the exhaust gases in the presence of a catalyst. This chemical reaction converts NOx into harmless nitrogen (N2) and water (H2O).
